Proposed update on Board Policy for Ceremonies and Observances Holidays (including U.S. flag and pledge of allegiance in all classrooms)
This is the proposed update on Board Policy for Ceremonies and Observances of holidays I proposed to the Board. Then acting Board President Rudy Rodriguez (who is now running for reelection in 2026) and then acting VP George Sanchez, and ALL Board members (including Steven Sanchez, also running for reelection in 2026) VOTED AGAINST THIS PROVISION. My proposal had the inclusion of the verbiage:
"The flag of the United States shall be prominently displayed in every District school classroom and office. It will be the only flag displayed in each classroom and office during school hours."
[And for clarity AND to prevent ANY potentially controversial flags/emblems/signals not everyone in our community may agree with (such as BLM, Antifida, LGBTQ+, etc...)]
"Flags other than the United States of America and State of California
A flag is defined as a display of distinct color and design used as a symbol, standard, signal, or emblem.
